7 Blogging Myths DEBUNKED

If You Build It They Will Come

Falling for this one will result in some lonely nights. Turns out, the writing is the easy part after all! Get ready to hustle after you hit publish if you want your articles read. Routinely creating content that evokes emotion and strategically sharing it will get you results over time.

Free Blogging Platforms Are Better Because They Are Free

You don’t control your own content. The free blogging platform does and they can shut you down if they want. While it certainly is possible to move your online presence down the line, it’s not ideal. You can lose any traction you’ve built up in terms of your name, brand and domain.

You Have To Post Everyday

Posting everyday is an ambitious and worthwhile endeavor. Truth be told, you can be successful without posting everyday. Consistency is the key. If your readers expect 2 articles a week from you, be sure to give them the 2. Any more will be an added bonus!

It Will Take Hours To Write Each Post

In reality, you could post something that is a hundred words once in awhile. If you can cover the topic at that length and it helps your business grow...it’s perfect! Sure, you could have some posts take days to write, but not every one is going to be a masterpiece and that’s ok.

More Traffic, More Money!

This is going to be a hard pill to swallow, but more page views don’t automatically translate into more revenue. If you end up driving traffic that isn’t targeted (from a contest for example), you may not see extra cash. Quality content and an engaged audience is where the money is.

You Have To Be Everywhere

The sentiment for this one is nice, but it simply isn’t true. In fact, spreading yourself too thin can be detrimental to your growth. Concentrate on the channels that have the best return. If your niche is visual, for example, you may not build a following on Twitter no matter how hard you try.

SEO Is Dead

This comes up year after year. If you want your work to reach as many readers as possible, you have to utilize SEO. Organic traffic is less work to acquire in the long term and converts 9% better on average as well! You don’t have to sacrifice the quality...just don’t forget the keywords!

Here at howtostartablogonline.net, we know how tough it is to make it in the blogging world. With determination, you'll be able to learn from some of the misinformation and succeed!
